This is little Mr A, who actually wasn’t so little after all, weighing in at over 9 pounds at birth, every one of those pounds wide awake and attentive! He was two weeks late, which in my experience always makes a more alert baby, and because of the holidays (he was born Dec 22 and his folks wanted to relax and enjoy him without distractions) and the cold I caught, he was already three weeks when I met him. But what an adorable little guy, and totally ready to rock out. Didn’t get too many sleepy, zonked out pix , but ah, who cares? He had wonderful eye contact, and I swear you could see this little old soul peeking out. Very much his own person.
This month, we are donating money for Battered Women’s Support Services. Please help by leaving a comment on this blog post, or any other; it’s worth $1 to BWSS. At the end of the month, we’ll add them up and send them off a cheque.
Here are some words from A’s mommy:
What did you do when you first knew you were expecting?
We celebrated and then J (Dad) flipped a coin to see if we were going to have a boy or girl. The coin said boy!
How was your pregnancy? Any problems?
Pregnancy was incredible- I loved being pregnant. I miss being pregnant! A was breech for a while and I became obsessed with getting him to flip so was doing acupuncture, the Webster technique, swimming and inversions every day. Something worked and he flipped head down.
Baby A made his grand entrance just a couple days before Christmas. You were two weeks overdue; was it hard to wait?
It was difficult waiting for labour to begin. Again, I became obsessed with natural ways to induce labour- I tried everything under the sun but nothing worked! I stopped answering phone calls and emails from people asking if the baby had arrived.
What is your favourite thing, so far, about being a mom?
Being able to spend so much time with him each day and noticing those subtle changes that take place over the course of the week. I also find breastfeeding very fulfilling.
What are you most looking forward to over the next year or so?
Watching him interact and learn about the world around him.
What are your hopes for Mr A as he grows?
That he is truly happy and follows his
